ABOUT CARRIE and MAISIE JANE
Growing up in Central New York State, my favorite days were spent either riding horses, or sculpting Play-Doh into tiny horses, fences, and people. In high school, my art class participated in a lost-wax-to-bronze sculpting project affiliated with Syracuse University. The result was the "Fighting Stallions" sculpture pictured below. The next 32 years consisted of no horses, sculpting, or art. I raised a family while working in the corporate world, primarily in Houston, Texas and Philadelphia, PA.
It wasn’t until 2021, after moving to Southwest Florida with my newly retired husband, that I took up a hand clay class at the Cape Coral Art Center outside of Fort Myers. Proactively managing illness challenges and chronic pain – with unending support from family, friends, and physicians throughout my adult life – I strive to stand up daily to limitations and feel a great deal of compassion for others as a result.

In April of 2025 we lost our two-year-old certified support dog and golden retriever, Maisie Jane, to a neurological disorder that took her very quickly from us. It's the loss of Maisie that inspires me to create dog sculptures for those who love their dogs so dearly. I am fortunate to be able to provide a service to those who love and lose their beloved pet.

I am very grateful for a simple creative process. I have the client select music which I will listen to while preparing the clay and sculpting, sometimes one song is played repetitively while completing the piece or a genre of music is selected by the client. Most of the time, I ask the spiritual realm to participate and take the lead in the creation. The song becomes an integral part of the artistic meaning and gratefully the essence of the music is conveyed.
Each piece is then kiln fired and finished with a simple glaze and final firing. If angel wings are desired, the wings are completed with acrylic paint to give a gold and holographic finish.

Your sculpture order is welcome - clients choose both a musical piece (or genre) and send in photos of their beloved pet. Also, pet remains can be incorporated into the sculpture if desired. Please see the Contact page for more details.
